Description

Another coincidental juxtaposition. And a cute one, this time. Looks like a two-panel comic of Celly fawning over cute lil’ Twily in a box. :3 Pictures by silfoe and lumineko, respectively.

The trouble with abrasiveness is that it’s very, very rarely ever necessary. A softer suggestion would get the point across just fine. Abrasiveness breeds confrontation from people who dislike it, and if you go in knowing that what you say is likely to set someone off, well, you have no one to blame but yourself when people get set off by what you say.

I’m the kind of person who gives what I’m given; if you’re abrasive, I’m abrasive. If you’re a little more tender in your wording, then I return the courtesy. I can appreciate honesty and straightforwardness, but I’ll direct you to “Honest Apple” as an example of what happens when you let honesty turn into flat-out abrasion. There’s a difference between being straightforward and being unnecessarily abrasive, and my experience is that people who are unapologetic about it fall into the latter camp far too often. If you don’t care how it comes off, frankly I’m not gonna care about how my conduct makes you feel. I’m just gonna shrug it off.

Now, following the rules is a different matter; if I’m required to add those tags, then politely point that out and I’ll comply, or report me to a mod if I don’t. But being abrasive with me will do you no good.

At any rate, the artist tags have been added, and only because the rules require it, though I would have happily done so for a far less abrasive suggestion.

Now, how about we just enjoy these pictures of cute ponies drawn by talented artists?

Respectfully I don’t really care how condescending or egotistical it sounds or sounded. I said what I felt needed to be said in as concise and direct a manner as possible so that there could be no confusion. My secondary response was not an apology for not being more delicate with my phrasing, it was merely me elaborating and explaining that I had no intention to sound holier-than-thou.

I understand my words were blunt and frankly I understood that when I wrote them. Again, at the time they seemed like an efficient way to get my point across so I used them. So while I appreciate the sentiment I can assure you that it is wholly unnecessary. There’s a difference between being socially inept and being unapologetically abrasive, and I can assure you that I fall into the later camp far more often than I fall into the former.

It did sound like three hundred million percent condescending and egotistical tbh ;)

Of course it’s impossible to actually hear someone’s tone in writing, and that can completely change the meaning of some words, but really there are certain sentences that just look a certain way no matter what mood the person is when reading. It’s best to keep that in mind for the future.

It was not intended to be condescending as it was intended to be concise and to the point. It was not my intention to offend you, but merely to inform you that is not how things are supposed to be done here. Nothing more and nothing less.

I made the conscious choice to omit the artist tags out of consideration for the artists in question, though I still included credits for their pictures in the description. I’ve added tags to pictures plenty of times, and I even added the artist tags to this picture in case you haven’t noticed. I understand tagging well enough. You can cut that condescending opening statement out of your post and still make your point clear.

You clearly don’t understand how tagging works on this site then. If an artist doesn’t want something uploaded under their tag then they will have the appropriate DNP (Do Not Post) listing attached to their profile. Otherwise it is assumed that all uploads and edits of their content are acceptable to upload and tag.

That is to say that unless an artist has a declared DNP regarding the subject of your upload, it’s fine to upload it, and that whenever you upload something you should ALWAYS tag the artist in question, full stop.
