“He was constantly bullied in school about what felt like everything, his mane, clothing choices, music taste, sexuality, personality. He hated how his parents didn’t care, they were too busy showering his siblings with with love instead. They barely noticed him. he got sick of it all, he was starving himself slowly from depression. One night, carefully planned so it was a day of a lunar eclipse so that no pony would be around to stop him, they were all outside staring at the sky. He locked himself in his room and tied a rope to the ceiling, wrapped the noose around his neck and and kicked a chair.
 
Expecting death, he didn’t plan a way down, but after waiting a few minutes, nothing happened, no sweet release of death. Finding that strange, he untied the rope and let himself fall to the floor. No pain, no bruise from bumping against the fallen chair, no feeling. It took awhile for him to notice that he could no longer feel pain, but he wasn’t dead, that deadbeat family of his came back inside, they were as rude as ever, they didn’t notice. They never noticed. No pony ever seemed to notice, he was somehow walking on the plane between life and death, not quite a ghost or a zombie but definitely no longer mortal.
 
The bullies didn’t let up, if anything, they got worse when they realized that he has no longer running away in fear from them. his body stopped changing. Whatever he looked like that night, he was stuck with it for all eternity. The malnourished body, the too-long mane, the rope burns, the scars left behind from years of self-harm, whatever puberty did. Forever an almost-legal teenager.
 
As his siblings grew up, they never noticed that their brother didn’t grow with them. They just kept making fun on him as usual. The parents were even worse, they berated and mentally abused his fading school grades. School? Who cares about that when you can no longer die or grow? Pointless.
 
After he inevitably got kicked out of his house, he found himself wandering homeless with a new-found dark sense of humor upon the world as death and pain could no longer happen. He ended up looking for young ponies in similar situations that he was in before this and encourages them to be stronger than he was.
 
The hourglass he wears around his neck is to regulate time. In the inbetween, time moves far slower than in the world of the living or the dead, so the hourglass speeds him up to the same speed as that of the other worlds as he traverses them. If the hourglass is taken off his neck, he slows down to the point where the naked eye can’t see him move anymore. If a normal pony wore it, nothing would happen.”

I originally wrote the story gender neutral, so if I somehow fucked up a pronoun, that’s why. It’s also really rough and vague and was written before he was designed.
 
The hourglass is mainly just an excuse as I wanted him to wear something. :P
