Post the new, higher-res version like you would anything else. Once it’s up, come back to this image here and click on the “Reporting” tab next to the “Tags and source” and “Favoriters” tabs just below the tags, and click on the “updated or previously uploaded” tab. Copy the url of the new image into the field that says “Image number that you think this image should be merged into:”, write something in the field below it explaining you’ve found a higher quality version of the image and so on, and click on “report duplicate”. This will send in a request to merge this image into the new one, which will carry over votes, comments and favorites from this into the one you just uploaded.
 
There might be another way to do so, but that would be the best way of doing this I know of.

I have found a much higher res version on the artist’s Patreon(free, no donation required to see it) How would I submit here to replace the lower res version?(or maybe someone else could do it)

A wooden stick smashed hard into the desk, sending papers and inkwells flying to be caught by a shimmer of silver-white magic, startling a phoenix chick into panicked flight and shattering the sleep of the two teenaged alicorns who had been peacefully enjoying their habitual midday nap. Celestia sneezed loudly, sending the quill perched on her nose flying into the air, while Luna fell off her chair, dazedly demanding to know who had started the night without her leave before remembering to take off the sleep mask she had previously snuck into the classroom.
 
Throughout all this, Starswirl patiently waited for his two students to regain their bearings, regarding them with an unimpressed expression while the two future rulers of ponykind picked themselves up off of the floor and tried to rub ink stains out of their coats.
 
Once the two sisters had climbed back into their seats and reassembled a facsimile of dignity, Starswirl raised an eyebrow. “Now, since I’m sure you’ve been carefully listening to what I’ve been teaching you for this past half hour, I’m certain you’ll be quite eager to come up to the chalkboard and demonstrate to me the full mathematical proof of Stargazer the Elder’s third law of emphatic magical amplification… Luna.”
 
The younger alicorn swallowed, a faint sheen of sweat beginning to cake her fur. She gave a sickly grimace that might have passed for a smile in poor lighting, picked up a piece of chalk and headed to a clean chalkboard, desperately trying to remember how much Starswirl had covered before she had stopped paying attention, got bored with balancing quills on Celestia’s nose and gone to sleep. Her sister’s not particularly subtle sniggering was not doing much to help her concentration.
 
Starswirl turned to the other filly. “Now, since we’re finding this situation so terribly amusing” Celestia’s sniggers died with a choke “I’m sure you’re going to have great fun writing me an additional essay on, hmm, the uses and magical properties of mithril and its history in crafting and metallurgy in addition to the one you already have due five days from now” he leaned in towards his student “which I’m sure you have already started on, hmm?”
 
Celestia gave a grimace to mirror her sister’s and nodded weakly.
 
Starswirl beamed. “Wonderful! Since you’re already started, why don’t we have this essay due on the same day as the other? Keep everything tidy, and I’m sure you won’t have any problems writing two at once, given you’ve already done progress with the first and all. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I see a number of issues with Luna’s proof I need to see to.” Ignoring Celestia’s horrified gape, Starswirl turned away and headed towards the chalkboard, Luna, and what was probably intended to be the proof he had asked for.
 

 
Luna sipped her tea, looking across the castle’s dining hall to where Starswirl was engaged in a rather animated conversation with Twilight, Starlight and Spike. The elder unicorn appeared to be telling some sort of story, although she was too far to hear what he was saying. Whatever it was, Starlight and Spike seemed to be find it quite amusing, judging by their expressions of barely restrained laughter, while Twilight seemed to be caught in a mixture of disbelief, horror and shock, accentuated by an erratic twitch in her left eye.
 
Luna turned to her sister, who had been giving the other group worried glances for the past few minutes. “Celestia, what do you suppose they’re talking about? I would assume something comedic, but between the distance and Twilight’s face I can’t be sure.”
 
Celestia turned to her sister, sparing one last glance to her former student’s face. She had seen enough of her thousand years of life tor recognize a crisis of faith when she saw one, and she had a pretty fair idea of what was behind this one. “I’m not sure of the particulars, Luna, but… well, let’s just say I’m expecting some rather awkward conversations with dear Twilight over the next few days.”

Also, I need to know where to get a sleep mask like the one Luna’s wearing.
