I think the proper way of saying it is “don’t remind me of it” because you’re usually reminded of things, not about things. As for your “British English”, I’ve never heard/seen a single British person say/write “Everyone are”.

“Don’t remind me about it” is perfectly fine English, and “everyone are” could be the author using British English grammar.
