I never thought I would like MLP so much. Even though I’ve been aware of its existence since March 2011 (I remember seeing a lot of pony avatars and signatures on Minecraft Forums), I only started watching the show in June 2017. I was really anxious at the idea of watching a show about pastel-colored horses, which is why it took me so long to get started. I eventually convinced myself to watch an episode (I settled on S05E01 after asking a few people about it). I had heard good things about the show, but it was even better than I expected — I found the animation and voice acting pretty good, and the characters very well-designed. As they say, the rest is history — so far, I watched 6 seasons out of 8, plus the movie (which I really liked too).
MLP definitely changed my life for the better — its wholesome values shaped my personality ever since I started watching the show, and I’ve met lots of very nice people in the fandom.

And believe me, I have nothing against you liking the previous generations, I just hope you understand that they’re not as likable as g4.
@sTs
Oh yes, don’t worry, I wasn’t trying to convert you (unless you wanted to be converted, which you don’t; I respect that).
I know there are (more than) a few good bronies who do not enjoy previous gens, and that’s okay.
It’s been a little over six years since I started watching MLP. Back then I never thought I would still be a fan of a show about magical cartoon ponies six years later. It came as a surprise to many, I believe. Who could have foreseen how many lives the show would touch?
At the end of the day, I’m glad to be on the ride.
