I think you also missed the fact that with the Blade Runner sequel, they decided to elaborate on whether or not Deckard is a replicant and knowing how Ridley Scott wanted to portray him in the original despite the outcry of the lead writers and the lead actor, the entire theme of the original got shat on.

Also, my normie friends enjoyed 2049 much more than me, who actually wanted to see “Blade Runner” and not “Drive 2049”. So i guess 2049 can be enjoyed by non fans too.
