I found it a bit odd that, after going through the trouble of creating a new location and explicitly calling it “Kirin Grove”, they’d just place the kirin somewhere else entirely in their debut episode.
 
Regardless, its seems like the Peaks of Peril would be somewhere between the Arimaspi lands, Tempest’s old village and the Caves of Conundrum.

Now add peaks of peril to the list.

I believe they also sometimes get involved with Ponies themselves or even in alternate universes, but reports are very scarce.

They say that there are these anthropomorphic hairless apes fighting over the Badlands. All we know about them is that they wear red or blue clothing.

Kind of wish we got to see the Storm King’s Lair.

The only two settlements I can see in the Smokey Mountains are the forts of the Hooffields and McColts.
 
Given the location of the point around which the cutie marks seemed to be orbiting and the terrain seen in the episode, which was pretty flat, I’d put Sire’s Hollow in the mountains’ foothills – right between the mountains proper and the White Tail Woods.

So based on the cutie map projection at the beginning of The Parent Map, Sire’s Hollow seems to be one of the two villages located in the Smokey Mountains. Closer to the coast than not.
 

Now is the the badlands just a low spot on the surface of the earth or what seriously is the place that is not much mentioned and not even seen

Yeah… We’re all pretty certain the Undiscovered West has been retconned out, considering the fact that it doesn’t exist on the extended Cutie Map in Season 8.

Undiscovered West looks awfully peaceful and uneventful to still be undiscovered, especially considering it’s within spitting distance of Canterlot.

There’s a point where “isolationism” just doesn’t cut it, however. Especially considering how fuck-huge an Empire Equestria apparently is according to the Cutie Map.
