I’d get on you for not actually addressing my question, but seeing as I necro’d a two year dead comment section, I don’t exactly have a leg to stand on do I? :P
Here I thought it was an issue with people not realizing their ordinations of distance metrics/dissimilarities had a saturation effect for data points that actually lacked commonality but created an apparent curvature towards each other(as seen in ecological data [1]) but it turns out it’s just for trolling fascists? Silly me.
So I stumbled upon this again, and I have to ask, have you’ve EVER actually TALKED to people on the Alt-Right? They all, to a person, HATE Horseshoe Theory. PASSIONATELY. “Muh Horseshoe Theory” is a fucking meme among those who use (((they))) unironically.
I should note that I’m not defending Horseshoe Theory. It can serve as a quick rule of thumb, and it makes for some amusing memes here and there, but it’s actually accuracy is woefully off. But actual Fascists hate it.

First, the horseshoe theory is pretty much nonsense [1]. Feel free to make a falsifiable model (I searched for one, it doesn’t seem like anyone has bothered to even try to make this scientific) though and present it to me; I’d be glad to see it tested instead of just asserted as true/false. Second as to who is the one bringing up the horseshoe theory to smear their perceived opponents-it’s mostly the self-described “centrists” [2]. I’ve seen so much dumb shit comparing Bernie Sanders to Trump, and Sander’s supporters to Trump’s supporters. I’ve seen it in the news, on twitter, on other social media. Maybe it’s different in these forums, I just got on this site recently. Here’s the last part-“centrist” in the United States, at least for the political and pundit class, is in that upper-right quadrant. Sanders is a veritable communist to the screeching political class and the fascists, but he’s only slightly on the left in the political compass while most of the Dems and GOP are sitting on the top right [3 bottom of page].
But really, you’ve seen Rand Paul or Gary Johnson supporters (bottom right quadrant folks) bringing up horseshoe theory at lot? Here? Who are they labeling as the extreme ends? And you’re sure it’s not just an incorrect use of the horseshoe theory in place of the Alex Jones “two heads of the same monster” idea (where Jones gets about 10% of reality correct, e.g. both parties serve the same corporate donors, but that’s because of the money, not because of some shadowy cabal of (((people))) pulling the strings)?

Yeah… Bullshit. The folk you’re talking about are Bottom Rightists shouting at the authoritarian Communists and Fascists (or who they perceive to be such). Real Fascist absolutely despise the concept. Seriously, PM Whatevs. Ask his opinion on the matter.
Seriously people, Fascists (and other assorted Authoritarian Far Rightists) are real people who aren’t shy about their opinions. Just ask one already.

Usually the folks screaming the loudest about “horseshoe theory” are in the upper-right quadrant (next to each other) and pointing at people (mostly far apart) in the bottom left and bottom right quadrants.
Unless there was a typo here, You are all over the place with this. Did you mean to say bottom right for the horseshoe theory guys?
