Yeah, I was thinking about a wig the whole episode. Covering up hair or baldness that one doesn’t want seen is exactly what a wig is for.

The thing I didn’t understand, was that if Rarity made Cranky a new wig, then she obviously knows how to make wigs, so why didn’t she just make herself a wig from the start?
