One prank pushed too far, Spike snapping and starting to be a villain but everything he does just seems like a “silly little nuisance”, but as time goes on, he starts showing he knows the dark secrets of the 6 and knows where to hurt them the hardest.
 
Granted, his villain status probably was Secret of my Excess and that was the end of it.

There are no grounds for it.
 
Spike and Sweetiebelle don’t share any interests and Spike is never seen with the CMC. The three times he’s ever interacted with them, he was always presented as much older and often “having to deal with kids” in relation to them (Ponyville Confidential, Just for Sidekicks, Equestria games).
 
The only “shipping” has been open dance floors at large parties and they happen to be on the floor at the same time, but it has about as much of a chance happening as Rarity hooking up with Fancy Pants, or twilight hooking up with her brother.
