And Lauren Faust said that they wouldn’t have been good sisters. Heck personally I feel their bond is stronger than the Rarity-SB and AJ-AB ones, even if RD and Scoot are not technically sisters.

More like a mom than a big sister.
 
Well Scootaloo does seem to have lacked in familial attention in general so Dash may have to cater to multiple roles.

True, but it also shows how the writers have (with some setbacks) matured RD as a character in this regard.

I somehow imagined a fanfic in my head where scootaloo gets lost in a dark cave and RD has to find her. After many hardships and scary encounters with all kinds of creatures that live in the cave, RD finally finds scootaloo and this scene happens :)
