1: The definition of the mouthpiece tag was changed long before that image was posted.  
2: The Smiling Pony wasn’t the one behind the change.  
3: People were directed many times to the mouthpiece discussion thread to talk about possibly changing it back.  
4: Not a one did that.  
5: So the definition stayed.  
6: As archonix said: The discussion of removing downvotes has been going on for a long time. And the current descision of this was brought forth before that applejack image was posted.

I’m cooking up something bad, something real bad. Might just make derpi staff think twice about totally removing average score… We’ll see what I come up with in a couple weeks.

There was an image about gay pride being tagged as mouthpiece by the users and the tags were locked and mouthpiece tag removed and the definition of the tag being changed by the mods so it couldn’t apply to gay pride images anymore and it received downvotes. Then an image of Aj as a trans by the same artist was downvoted heavily after the mods didn’t let the users apply mouthpiece to it. The Frowning Pony was very active in changing the mouthpiece tag and defending the images and calling people out on having downvoted certain things previously and they are also involved in the change in downvoting.
