that comment actually made me check the number of twilestia pics compared to twiluna, and its exeacly 800 more in favor of Twilestia, proving Twilestia is bestia. :D

Of the 1154 Twiluna pics silfoe is responsible for 274 of them (some might be dupes, edits and such but im just counting the numbers)

You weren’t hoping for Celestia’s return and subsequent theft of a certain purple pony? I’d take that form your name…

Ah so it will be just a “anghsty” shipping blog? I was hoping for something either action oriented of emotional with a dash of redemption.

Eh oh well. There is still the rest of silfoes art.

The Elements did shit to Luna. Her primary guiding emotion is jealousy and not anger.
And she still is (righteously) jealous. The only thing the Elements did was steal her power.
Which came back as soon as Luna Eclipsed, as evidenced by her transformation into NMM to scare foals.

And no. We know nothing about Celestia’s rule and as explained on countless other images,
there is not enough evidence in the canon show that would come from a thousand years of peace.

The issue was that she had no appreciation before, yes.
And for one, she’s clearly not satisfied with what she’s getting in the show, for another that’s after getting the anger smacked out of her; If they’d just ‘talked her down’ instead of rainbow-blasting NMM in the Pilot, I’m convinced she’d never have settled for anything short of a majority of the status and praise.
Yaknow, have her sister sit besides her while she gets a throne, be the face of Equestria while delegating her sister to less seen roles… Just like Celestia did! :P (Celestia’s a master manipulator, if you keep an eye out - but then what else would you expect from someone who’s managed 1000 years of peace? You don’t get that kind of peace without a lot of control from the shadows)

Okay, so that was a little exaggerated, but my point still stands: Nightmare Moon is the primary/secondary protagonist despite being pure evil (Silfoe established her as a ruthless tyrant, she is not “pretty okay”), her followers are blindly loyal, poor Celestia is stuck on the moon, and all of that is set up as the status quo of this blog. We are already off to a depressing start, and Silfoe promised that the story would become even darker.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Silfoe’s other work, but all of that talent means nothing to me if the premise itself leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I would also be concerned with the possibility of TwiLuna being a bigger source of drama than Nightmare Moon’s rule over Equestria, but I believe Silfoe is above that. Hopefully.

I think the issue was that Luna had NO appreciation before.
Heck, even now when she’s back (at least Equestria-side) nothing changed and Luna still has limited support (foals mostly)

If NMM returned to find the appreciation she wanted, Luna would be back right then and there.

I disagree; NMM seemed, to me, to have gone over into ‘They should love me more than my sister!’ mode.
If she had gotten the appreciation she wanted before turning into NMM, it quite probably would have stopped there, but she stewed in her anger and jealousy too long and would not be satisfied with a ‘mere’ equal status.
Maybe if she was both defeated, in some way that didn’t return her to Luna on its own, and then shown equal appreciation she might ‘settle’ for a partial victory, but not when she was in full swing and had every expectation of winning the ‘war’.

Yeah but she had 1000 years to explain it to absolutely everypony. If NMM returned to find the appreciation she wanted, Luna would be back right then and there.

One theory that I have is that the Elements needed to be used against Nightmare Moon, not against Luna.

Alternatively, she got sick of constantly having to explain it and having it used against her by anyone who wanted to oppose her.

At this point why bother asking for redemption? She had a thousand years to remake what good and evil means.

Food for thought - if Celestia was looking to help Luna WHY did she erase nearly everything relating to her?

And when “almost nothing has happened” and a solid one-third of what is currently there is focused on the anti-Celestia facet of the character it paints the events of this work in that same negativity. The kicker for me is that seven of the last eight posts in this story have been “Nightmare Moon hates Celestia and no Celestia isn’t coming back in this story.”

At no point was I expecting or demanding an instant redemption. I stuck with this because it had Silfoe’s gorgeous art style and her lovely way of writing scenes that were simultaneously awkward and cute. When the story established itself as a slow-burn, like Silfoe’s main tumbler, that was also fine. Her main shipping work reads fairly close to an illustrated long-form shipping fanfic, which I love. But with Silfoe’s work split between two stories and this one being the minor one with updates nearly a month apart, the solid block of Nightmare hating Celestia and literally nothing else going on turned into a solid multi-month mass of “negative” content from someone I follow for exactly the opposite of that. It only compounds that with part of that block being a flashback, that wasn’t even character progression like some of Silfoe’s heavier TwiLuna arcs, so there wasn’t even a sense of a character working through problems to reach a cathartic conclusion. This block was literally just re-explaining a character’s motivation that we already know.

It is worth restating, this is simply why I personally am not enjoying this story. I don’t go to my hobbies like FiM looking for negative emotions. I already struggle with depression and negative mood swings, and seeing characters I’m emotionally invested in go through hatred and negativity has a very noticeable effect on me. Doubly so with illustrations involved as I can only imagine this Nightmare hating Silfoe’s normal Celestia, who is portrayed as so loving and remorseful (and seeing Nightmare literally spit in her face like this makes me legitimately furious), so I can’t even pretend this Nightmare is hating some AU!Celestia that isn’t as loving and gentle. At this point the entire story is now drenched with this permanent layer of hatred and bile over Nightmare that I’m going to find it difficult to want to see her find happiness. The character is so negative and hateful that it feels like the hints of attraction shown earlier are purely sexual and that Twilight is only going to get herself abused and that is so far from what I want to see that I’m simply bowing out now.

Perhaps if the story moved faster, or things like this were interspersed between more of what the story started with it wouldn’t resonate so strongly with me to bring me to the point of wanting to comment like this. But that isn’t up to me, and I can only make assessments based on current trends.

If others enjoy it, great. I don’t. At least not in its current state. Maybe I’ll check on it a few years from now, if I even remember it, to see if there’s more Silfoe shipping I can enjoy.
