I think that the colors for most of the changedlings are ok and can work, but Thorax’s is just so overly bright that it just doesn’t work the same way.

They should have the changedlings go through some king of transformation where they turn into this. Mainly with the color I mean.

This is still much better than the canon look, I agree more blue accents could be added but overall this at least doesn’t look like puke and keeps the dark color of the original which I think makes them more unique instead of just being ugly parts of the background. They need their holes back too but I can live without them at least.

I think I may be the only fan who considers the original changeling design one of their top 3 favorite designs in the show (along with Golden Oaks Library (rip) and Cloudsdale), but who still likes the “reformed”/matured changeling design. Those absurdly bright, even garish colors are so strongly reminiscent of RL beetles that it really cements the “bughorse” vibe for me. Still, just to avoid the implication that only cute or pretty things can be good, I really, really hope we get an unattractive or scary-looking creature or race who turns out to be friendly. (In addition to Cranky Doodle Donkey, of course.)

As the holes were symbolic of their decay (I think Rebecca Dart even stated as much?), I think they’d inevitably have to be left out of any putative re-design of the matured changelings.

i do kinda prefer this versoin though to a degree. i like the idea of them being more physically whole, but the coloration felt like a tyo decision over a creative one.

Everything is perfect, but should he have leg holes like before? I’m not sure if- maybe he’s fine like this?

i’m curious to see what this version of thorax would look like with mammalian eyes like chrysalis. i’ve always found it a bit odd that chrysalis is the only changeling we’ve seen so far without compound eyes.

Yeah, that’s a lot better. I still don’t really mind the new color schemes though.

You’re not the only one. :P The colors are way too simple for his far more complex design, now. Terrible color for the antlers in-particular, imo. His antlers are not just a foci for his magic but they’re supposed to be a replacement for some kind of crown, so making them the same grayish color as most of his body is wasted potential, and makes them seem largely irrelevant. They should be some shade of blue like his jewels or carapace, for me.

That why I want to redesign the legs, that’s the main problem, it’s too round makes them look unbalanced, and the thorax, too, it looks like a chest nut.

I kinda like this! Looks rather stylish and cute.

Seriously, the all-black coat and blue eyes worked for the old design, but it just doesn’t work here. Even if you want to make it more like the old colors, there ought to still be variety instead of making the whole thing black. Like, maybe make the horns gray or something and add a bit more of the blue as accents.

Of course I’m the only one who doesn’t like this…

This one’s nice, much more subdued.
 
I wish the ‘official’ Thorax we got didn’t look like he was designed by (or related to) Liberace.

It’s really good ! I love changelings, but I completely refuse to accept that they’re all neon rainbow weird horse-thingies now. This would have been great as a canon design.
 
… The tail still looks dumb tho.

Personally i prefer this kind of legs, the swiss cheese legs is the main reason I disregard the changelings.

The tail still looks stupid, but this design is much preferable to the color choices of the original. I mean, seriously, the colors look like a 3 year old decided them.

You succeeded, much much better. But the legs needs to be redesign to fit the color. +fangs.
