Well it’s not like they just pulled them out one day. It’s a thing you can do at a veterinary clinic by surgeons while they’re unconscious. They wake up, groom their paws a bit more than usual for a day or two and then that’s it.
It’s less an issue for the cat than spaying or neutering, and those are definitely things that need to be done unless you’re ready to deal with kittens. Overpopulation is why cats end up in shelters.
I think it would make the cat happier, too - if they have front claws, then as you’re petting them and they get happy they start kneading and suddenly they’re getting yelled at, making them afraid to be happy and always anxious you might start yelling at them. But if they don’t have front claws then they can knead all they want no problem.

They don’t have their front claws. My parents figured they don’t need’em since they live indoors 24/7 and it’s a big house and they wanted nice things without cats scratching them… Now they can happily knead anything they want without getting “attacked” in their minds :q
But I only did that forceful snuggling few times.
Nowadays I’ve learned to handle them so they’re typically happy to be in my arms. Well, Luna, at least. Will isn’t. Unless he’s in one of his rare good moods.
And yeah we have a cat named Luna and we named her that long before FiM was a thing :p
