It is canon that the Nightmare can make herself sterile or not. She’s only ever once not been sterile, when she was caught and hypnotised by Queen Chrysalis disguised as Twilight Velvet, fertilising the Queen’s eggs.
Maybe in order to keep from being pregnant, everypony could take all of their newly conceived babies and put them in the wombs of their other selves from parallel realities? :3
All this magic and widespread degeneracy, she probably doesn’t give it a first thought.

I don’t think that Twilight would let NMR to keep possessing Rarity without Rarity being ok with it. She may be really kinky but I dont believe even in the kanashiiverse that Twi would do that to a friend.
Heck maybe its a voluntary thing that Rarity agreed to keep the Nightmare within her, as they try to reform Nightmare?
Possible, but I haven’t seen anything that supports it that I remember. It might be that Rarity thinks it’s just a dream, or has a vague memory of it which has led her to being more sexually active. Thinking about it now, I prefer the idea that Rarity knows on a subconscious level, but will not admit it to herself for fear that things might come to an end. That is pure speculation and headcanon though.
now taht i think about it, ya think it’s possible for rarity to know nightmare rarity is possessing her? i mean it’s kinda clear, that nightmare rarity when she takes over kind has to get her bearings and know her surroundings. twilight could’ve told rarity and NM wouldn’t be the wiser. i still wonder if she knows what happened after meeting “Ms. Velvet”
