The more I look at it, the more it seems like Shining Armor is more amused by Flurry’s goth phase than anything.
 
I could imagine him remembering how he went through a similar phase of his own.
 
Big question is: how would the rest of The Crystal Empire respond to their beloved young princess going goth?

Someone should commission one where Shining and Cadance are all gothed up in support of their daughter and she looks completley mortified.
