@Ihhh
“Creator” isn’t limited to the one who invented the character. It’s appplicable to any other writer, or show creators, if you will. And Starlight does tick all the boxes.
@Spike Number 1 Assistant
Ok? That still doesn’t prove that starlight shouldn’t be powerful enough to swap their cutie marks, nor does it somehow make her more powerful than celestial or luna. in her first episode, it was established that she could remove cutie marks. How is swapping cutie marks any different?
@Ihhh
because || the series has made it clear that a cutie mark determines what a pony is supposed to do in the world,
their place, their special talent that makes them unique to every other pony, it’s like a form of destiny really,
so essentially in this light, the power to swap destinies, something like that would take massive power. As much as i don’t want to cite this, Magical Mystery Cure did that, the spell used to swap the cutie marks was from Starswirl The Bearded, also cited as one of the all time most powerful magic users. ||
@darknessRising24
Why? That would give this image the opposite meaning.
@Spike Number 1 Assistant
Since when has a pony’s power dictate how hard it is to swap their cutie marks?
Also, haven’t watched the episode yet, just the synopsis, so no spoilers please.
@Background Pony #B84B
admittedly, Starlight, while not a mary sue (personally, i refer to Flurry Heart as a mary sue), to just discuss this with fellow fans, I feel they rushed her really quick. And the recent episode, A Royal Problem is proof of this.
|| Since the beginning of the series, Celestia and Luna were made out to be the biggest and strongest power in the universe, the alicorns whom have seen millenniums pass, the rulers of the world. But, it was kind of understandable for Twilight to surpass them in a couple of ways, the show makes her out to be the savior. But this is unfortunately where I feel they did wrong with Glimmer. Having her as powerful as an alicorn princess Twilight is a little off putting. Especially when you see what Twilight has done (Discord, Tirek, etc) So, to take this simple unicorn in Glimmer, and give her the ability to switch the cutie mark destinies of Celestia and Luna, the two most powerful beings, it does get to be a little much ||
These kinds of debates are sometimes funny, but other times they’re kinda sad, before becoming funny again. There’s a lesson to be learned from this; Character flaws does not a Mary Sue make.
There’s a difference between an opinion and being objectively wrong, OP.
I love how her haters call her an overpowered Mary Sue, then go on to point out her flaws and cite those as further evidence that she’s a bad character. Being flawed is not a trait of a Mary Sue.
It’s perfectly fine to hate Starlight Glimmer. That’s an opinion. Justifying it by saying she’s a bad character for doing things that the Mane 6 have previously gotten away with doing without comment? That’s wrong.
And OP ignores the fact that both AJ and Strawberry Sunrise were being ignorant jerks by disregarding entirely the effort put into what they were complaining about. If you didn’t forget that, then what you’re saying is that people who hate Starlight do so because they’re ignorant of her complexities. They’re not, they just don’t like her because they want someone to blame for the show being different.
