Just because a character isn’t mentioned all the time or barely doesn’t mean they aren’t canon. Twilight likely wouldn’t be who she is if sunset didn’t leave nor would she have come into her own as a princess without her stealing her crown. And the mere fact she met Starlight means she’s canon so…
