Just as some people do polyamorous relationships, it’s not unreasonable to assume some ponies do the same. The ponies of Equestria do seem to be mostly monogamous though.

MLP ponies have no real relation or similarities to horses whatsoever, not to mention horses being wild animals, while the ponies in MLP are completely different/unrelated, sapient, intelligent beings that are our equals, so no, it’s not really worth noting. It’s totally irrelevant to MLP, and obviously doesn’t apply.

It is worth noting that real life horses are polyamorous and several mares will form a “herd” around an alpha male. Doesn’t mean it’s canon to Equestrian society, but it is worth noting.

All I meant was that just because we haven’t seen polygamy in the show (and probably never will), that doesn’t prove it doesn’t exist. If you just meant that it’s not the norm, then I guess I misunderstood and you’re obviously right.

What? Gay marriage is obviously going to be just as accepted in Equestria, especially with the messages and general positivity of the show and the setting. And poly too, like I said, the point I’m trying to make is not that it wouldn’t exist or wouldn’t be accepted in Equestria, just that most ponies are monogamous and monogamy is the norm.
Anyway, I don’t need to be getting into these sorts of arguments. I need sleep.

I’m going to agree with the other BP though because so far we havent seen example of polygamous Mormon pony so until proof of the contrary ,Equestria wedding are between one mare and one stallion (wessing with your “best friends” are up to debate though :-) )

Not really, when every couple and couple related thing we’ve seen has been strictly and demonstrably monogamous. It’s pretty clearly a fact, especially after 6 and soon to be 7 full seasons. Doesn’t mean you can’t choose to headcanon specific ponies as poly or something, if you like that sort of thing or you’re a shipper with a OT3 or something, just that the ponies in general are very obviously monogamous.
The ponies are monogamous, that much is an indisputable, canon fact.
Okay, I don’t have any problems with anything else you’ve said, but unless there’s been some kind of official confirmation, that statement is just nonesense.
Even though Feather Bangs didn’t get Sugar Belle, its kinda hard to feel sorry for the guy. There’s plenty of fish in the sea and he already had 3 in his net before he knew about them.
