I wasn’t trying to convince that you were wrong or anything like that. I’m sorry if I came off that way. I even said myself that I think it’s likely that they probably retconned this character.
I’d really appreciate if you would stop trying to convince me I am wrong. we’re both wildly speculating, but I’m not saying he’s a manticore in a pony suit, or anything outrageous like that. it’s just as dumb to say that he’s the same stallion with a different manicure as it is to say he’s rainbow dash’s secret, long lost uncle who’s coincidentally the exact same colors.
Yeah, them being identical twins sounds like it could work. That can explain why they both have the same exact colors. Some identical twins do end up having different heights so that can explain their height difference. As for Bow Hothoof’s bigger frame, maybe he works out and Rainbow Blaze doesn’t.
Yeah, it’s either a retcon, or an unused plot concept.
Dr. Whooves is in the way of his cutie mark in that scene. But that doesn’t change the fact that the character still has a different height, facial shape, and body type as Bow Hothoof.

There are more differences than just the cutie mark. And like I said before, Rainbow Blaze has appeared outside of flashbacks too. That’s why I like the idea of them being different characters.

my headcanon is just that rainbow dash just can’t remember her father’s cutie mark to save her life.

It likely is but people like handwaving it as him being another relative. It’s not that hard of a concept to believe, really.

I do believe the idea of him being Dash’s Uncle but a hearth’s warming tail was season 6
I mean, I could buy into that idea. But Rainbow Blaze was seen in “present-day” outside of flashbacks so I like the uncle theory a bit more because of that.

I still think the most obvious answer to this is that “Rainbow Blaze” was just Babbydash’s idealized fantasy of her dad– at that age, everyone’s dad can beat up everyone else’s dad and is also a fireman and a astronaut and a army super general– but the fandom consensus does seem to be that he was an uncle who never got an official name or any onscreen lines.
I can easily buy Rainbow Blaze being Bow Hothoof’s brother.
