What’s the word I’m looking for to describe Young Celestia? Childish? Immature? Juvenile? I’m gonna go with D.) All of the above.

Celestia is here curiously behaving very similar to how the IDW comic presented Sunset Shimmer…

>>458738p (merged)

To be fair though, that presentation had it’s flaws, as it made out Sunset quite vicious even in the past, as well as somewhat 2-dimensional (contradicting the fact even in the first movie, there suggested depth to Sunset, with her saying she doesn’t know anything about friendship, and herfeeling replaced by Twilight).

Not to mention, the comic was latter was pretty much erased by contradictions from the main canon, Sunset saying in Rainbow Rocks, she had doubts about her evil actions, just pushed those doubts back, while the comic didn’t show it all. Canon also with a very different Moondancer, and her, Lemon Hearts, Congate, and Twinkleshine were presented as Twilight’s age, were in the comic Twilight is much younger.

I can appreciate IDW trying to be consistent with their previous work, by having young Celestia behave like younger Sunset Shimmer in their version, but the Sunset Shimmer comic, wasn’t exactly good, with a ton of wasted potential, and this comic, contradicts everything that was previously shown about young Celestia, like in the The Journal of the Two Sisters.

Not to mention, with such charater derliment, it adds to the Celestia hate.

I like this version of Celestia. Because she’s a big sister. She’s not perfect all the time, she makes mistakes and this makes the sudden pain she feels with fighting Luna later all the more heartbreaking, because she’d likely think back on moments like this with unimaginable guilt.
