I am inclined to think so based on his every response to critique over the years. There is no desire to improve, and even if there was there is little skill to be gained with a mouse. Drawing is muscle memory and doing so with a mouse will not get anyone very far. Of course, this will get written off as just another ‘silly’ comment from the ‘silly’ fandom.

I just thought his level of artistic improvement was slower than the average fan artist, as in what the average “five year meme” displays for others, for him an equivalent level of progression will take fifteen years.

These anthro anime characters are all made specifically for anime conventions. Toxic has made it abundantly clear that he does not care for the fandom or improving his work for it.
 
Attention has shifted to anime cons because pony cons no longer accept stagnant works that have remained unchanged for years. It seems that learning to properly draw is still too much to ask, however, and because humans are much more difficult to draw with a mouse than a pony he has resorted to copying/tracing.

There must be a link to the original image, otherwise people get the impression that it is an original work which is simply not true. Let alone the fact it was made to be sold at conventions. That is messed up.

Still, actually copying/tracing things can actually be good drawing practice. When I was a li’l kid I used to trace, or copy images from old Nintendo magazines & manuals, and that actually helped me learn to draw things on my own.
 
But yeah, they shouldn’t make money off others fanart, or uncredit the original artist if posting it online… People on DA have actually stolen, or (badly) copied my art, (which isn’t uncommon there…) and hilariously somebody would always recognize my style, and point out they stole from me. (And they won’t even respond back to them.  
One time, one kid went so far as to copy my image description word for word on a pic they stole from me.

Copying rather than tracing is just so bad, especially if the original goes uncredited and it is being made to be sold.

It’s possible the different sizes could mean he just copied it by eye, rather then trace it.  
Crazy idea, I know, but it’s possible. Not everyone knows how to resize things, and if that were the case why would he resize the thickness of the arms, legs & such in such a subtle way if he wanted people to notice they aren’t exactly the same size to make it look less traced? That makes no sense. A person would edit it to look less like the original, if that were the case.

He still claims the yoko pic wasnt traced despite pretty damning evidences.  
I tried to superimpose the two images and they don’t perfectly match, but all he did was just resizing things then tracing. Basically he edited something to not make it super obvious… Excpet it is.  
And his attitude on the matter is doing nothing to help him.

I don’t believe this was explicitly traced, but it was definitely copied. Tracing is done perfevtly line-by-line, but copying is going to allow for variation but nonetheless leaves no question to what the source was.
 
Either way, this is claimed to be a totally original work which is simply false. The least one could do is credit the original image.
