It’s an open secret that artists from the show/comics use creations of the fans. For references, for example.
But here artist was inspired a little bit more.
Was it wrong? Perhaps scanning the comic and posting it on Derpibooru was wrong too, but Hasbro/IDW won’t come here and tell you that.
And vice versa. You won’t send a message to Hasbro/IDW about this. Cheers.
Taking as neutral of a stance as possible. I don’t think Fosgitt intentionally copied that design. It could be coincidence.
Agreed, it’s possible…
I remember Sega & Sumo Digital awhile back mistook a fanart piece for an official art, and used it in a game. (They removed it, and apologized to the fanartist with a neat giftbasket. Ironically, the artist wasn’t upset, and found the situation flattering.) Could be the people who work on the comic could’ve done the same mistake.
I wouldn’t fault Fosgitt alone though, as the comic editor, and/or writer tell the artist what to draw, and could be equally, or more-so responsible.
@Tragiclady
The head gear is the same for each of the mane six. THAT is the smoking gun right there. Each of the six have a unique piece of headgear, and each of the heagear matches the original: rarity has a Tiara, Rainbow has a Spartan helmet, fluttershy’s is a weird curved thing…
If it was just the armor I would chalk it up to being a coincidence. But the headgear… that’s pretty much proof right there.
