Don’t see how, but honestly whether he’s guilty, or not, I doubt he intended to steal it for the reasons I stated already.
 
I understand his art’s not everyone’s appeal, but it kinda bugs me that some are actually enjoying this minor controversy, or using it to demonize him, just ‘cause they don’t like his art.
 
I doubt it’ll effect his job though considering angry fans couldn’t get Ted Anderson fired over a worse controversy. (But let’s NOT get into that old trainwreck.)

It honestly WOULD be cool if they did something like this “officially” in show. I’d love the six to get armor instead of rainbow power next time.

You have to really really stretch it to think it was the writer or Curnow that forced him to use these. It’s easily Fosgitt going by his past habits.

Well, if he or the editor/writer did Google it, and mistook the fanart piece as an official one, then technically he didn’t mean to steal from a fan. (Something the IDW staff & cartoon DHX staff actually try to avoid.) So I don’t get why some feel we should start demonizing him & IDW as it’ll get the situation no where fast.
 
Or it could be one hell of a coincidence, which would be pretty bad luck on Fosgitt’s part.

It’s basically stealing someone’s idea from a lesson or early project. I.e someone leaving a company and using the barely started project/idea wherever they end up afterward.

The collar stuff could have been passed, but the headdress designs easily point it out as a direct copy. Just look at Fluttershy and Rarity’s headgear. Just about 1:1 copies.
 
Plus Fosgitt is guilty of lazy googling often. That shot of the old castle in the Glimmer FF was traced straight from a show shot, sky lighting included. And let’s not forget the clipart cutiemark.

The mohawk helmet Dashie has was actually featured in the show prior, so it’s not entirely original. Same with the collar armor designs. The other stuff, I dun’no.

Whether or not Equestria-prevails permitted or approves use of generic uninspired armor is between him and IDW. BTW, do not bother him, please. Actually, I hear they’re very strict about NOT using fan-made material, (according to Andy Price they’re not even allowed to read fanfics) so I assume they could’ve mistaken the fanart piece for an official one.
