I think it’d be awesome, too! My only real problem with it is that the currently very common theme of Twilight-becomes-an-alicorn in fanfiction would practically die. It may be a bit cliche (really cliche), but I love all the different ideas people have about it, written in a more mature way than the canon cartoon can be.
 
But like I said, I still think this becoming canon would be pretty sweet.
