Well, that’s SciTwi, Midnight was shown as fairly sadistic toward her true self(SciTwi), and would, to know better know magic and get to Equestria, tear apart the human dimension with her portals, causing the extinction of humanity, and countless other species.
Yes, Midnight is a tragic figure, but she is ultimatelly a sum/manifestation of (SciTwi’s) negative emotions and obsession about magic, and extremelly destructive because of that. You could guess she coukd be redeemed, and/or merged fully with SciTwi’s core personality though into a more stable being.
Again though, that’s just my interpretation though, you should really discuss this with kessandra-s…

But my perspective on this, is that Midnight Sparkle is such destructive being, that Daydream Shimer would have to turn evil evil, to romance succesfully Midnight. Remember, Midnight is essetially SciTwi’s dark-side.
