Again I’ll leave you with Rosalyn’s explanation for this one :)

Glad you’re enjoying it, happy melancholy does pretty well describe my “intent” with the series :)
I’d have something akin to a ratchet joint, locks inplace till a release is pulled in any position. The spring would be good to help it move into place quickly but that’ll turn into a mess of calibrating for it’s weight or it’ll swing with a bit to much force one way, and not enough in the other.
The primary aim was to keep the weight low. It’s mostly for indoor use and landing on tarmac. She’s mostly airborne anyways. There’s definitely room for variants tho, I still want to make a set of piper cub undercarriage for her :p
True, I’m just the type to prepare for hell and high water regardless.
Still, I’m definately enjoying the series so far, cheerfull but with that touch of melancholy thats so hard to find nowadays.
Larger wheels would let her deal with bumps and uneven ground a lot better as anyone can tell you who has pushed around a wheelchair for awhile outside. Not a terrible design, I would have some sort of safety catch though to keep them from accidentally folding up until it was released instead of doing it by body weight.
It’s still an early version, Rosalyn assures me she already has something more aerodynamic in the works.
As a fast, heavy landing was what was directly responsible for the loss of her forelegs, I don’t think Piper will be putting this thing under heavy stress anytime soon. Baby steps :)
Mostly if it’s ever put under heavy stress.
Still, a good design if a little fragile.
