My favourite depiction of a “reverse mermaid” is the painting by René Magritte (“L’invention collective”, 1935). It would be interesting to see a pony equivalent of this.

I doubt Pencils will go to a “Family Guy or ’invention collective” route in this reverse Satyr of yours, Vinyl. Pencils can be more creative than those examples.

I give you a little hint, the flash when anon gave his sample is the “firmament” that is necessary to make pony into alicorn, and this missing made the “sample” unstable, there’ll be a while before I get to exposit the full logic behind this in the comic but it is only to demonstrate that anon can’t “cheat” the choosing stone.

Coincidentally enough, I saw that clip just the other day and had that image in mind when typing my comment. But it wasn’t the first reverse mermaid (man) I’ve seen.

Pencils is the master of escalating things slowly. Whenever I think it won’t go any further it manages to take another step. It makes me wonder if Pencils carefully plotted out the story to achieve that effect.
 
On a previous page a couple of months ago someone talked about Pencils asking for help in writing the story, as it seemed he’d hit a writer’s block. So I’d say no, it’s not all laid out in advance like that. Probably the over-arcing storyline but not every little detail.

I’ve seen a pony satyr before that was human on the bottom, and pony on the top half.
It was a bit unusual.
Are you saying it is more unusual than a typical satyr form? As in what Mascara is “currently” turned into? Pffft, okay! XD
 
Actually, yes, it would be more unusual. That’s not saying a satyr form isn’t unusual itself, but the top-half human, bottom-half animal is “standard”, while the reverse is not. Going back to my previous comment, it would be like a reverse mermaid. Human on bottom, fish on top. Pretty weird given the typical form.

This comic reminds me more and more of those “group of girls trying to mate with reluctant guy” type of harem anime/manga. Except, those I’ve tried to watch were all “boobs to the face” from the very first minute and managed to get me bored after just one episode. No finesse, no slow escalation, no promises of more to come.
