Got an iPad pro with an Apple Pencil and am working through apps now trying to figure out which is the most fun. This was in Tayasui Sketches.
 
It has the advantage of technical pens, markers, and brushes, but only 4 layers in the low cost version, and no way to pick colors aside from a color wheel. I’m not sure if the 4 layers is good, or bad. On the good side, it makes me think about what I’m doing and to declare layers “Finished” and move on faster. On the bad side, I have to declare layers “Finished” without enough extra layers to do highlights and shadows on separate layers.
 
Also, as far as I can tell, no masks. Or maybe I just need to spend more time in it. Probably will upgrade to the pro version just based on this though - it actually is kind of sweet once you start using it.
 
Meanwhile, gonna keep doing a half hour a day in different apps until something “Clicks”.
