I think I would have liked it more if the changelings remained evil. I kind of thought of the changelings like the dark elves of MLP: A bad-guy race that the audience sincerely enjoys as-is. Yet a race where everyone wants to make an original character of that defies the values of the race itself and turns into the rhetorical Dritzz.

I think the popularity of the changelings is what brought them around to this reformation - though I say that with uncertainty since just about every baddie got reformed in this show anyway. I've read very few fics that included changelings (as more than nameless adversities) who didn't either start off 'different' or come around to changing sides.
