I’ve seen that, but it doesn’t seem to do exactly what I want. (tried it once and it didn’t move the individual elements equally even though they were grouped)
 
A bit of research has found me some thing called Envelope Transform which seems to do it pretty well.

Oh, derp, I’m sorry. I meant to say I use Photoshop to do mesh warps. Basically it puts a 9X9 grid over your selected object and you can drag all the little points around to warp the image.

Eeyup, that’d be what I’d use it for. That’s something I struggle with quite often.
 
Where do you go to get the mesh warps?
 
edit: Have a thing called envelope deform, but that doesn’t work very well and crashes often. :/

I almost exclusively use mesh warps for cutie marks, to warp the flat shape to the rounded shape of their body.

Adobe Fireworks CS6. It’s a really good solid workhorse of a program with good all-around features. It just lacks a few of the really flashy ones.
 
It’s biggest missing feature is the mesh warp that Inkscape has. Of course, I also have Inkscape and use that just for said warps XD

That all sounds to me like you’re in need of a proper editor. What do you use?

Well, what I mean is I use the punch/interect tools the way you mean to use the mask tool, and I do have a reason for doing it that way. It’s minor, but consider this.  

 
Say I want to use the round shape as a mask for the red shape (top panel). When I do, when I try to click on things that are layered beneath the mask’s shape, it clicks on the mask instead (middle panel) unless I lock the mask layer, which I find to be really annoying. When I use punch and intersect, it gives the exact same effect (bottom panel) without the annoying side effect. While it’s true a mask is editable and a crop isn’t, I just make a copy of the trimmed shape and turn the visibility off on it so I can go back and grab it if I need it.
 
It’s the same reason I use enclosed shapes for lines instead of strokes: I keep accidentally clicking on points and joining them, and Firefox doesn’t readily fix that with the undo command. Like this:  

 
If you accidentally click anywhere near a point (top panel), the two join (middle panel). If you hit undo, it works, but now both shapes are selected and it messes up your original shape.
 
I do use masks, but only for things like “cropping” the shapes that go beyond the edges of comic panels and such like with this image:  
 
I drew the two panels separately and used a rectangular mask on each to hide the overbleed of the shapes.

Doesn’t seem quite clear by the tutorial though. It looks like you got cutting every bit of it (?)
 
Clipping just hides the parts that fall outside your bounds.

I’d be tempted to replace ‘cutting out’ with using the clipping tool in Inkscape.
 
At least then it’s a lot easier to edit her without having to redo the clipping.

Depends on my mood. Sometimes I use paper. Walmart sells these writing pads that I love to bits. Hardboard back and removable sheets. They’re perfect for drawing on. Other times I use a Wacom Intuos Tablet.
 
That said, if you’re a fan of these tutorials keep your eyes open. I’m working on a step-by-step tutorial of how I draw a picture from beginning to end :D

Adobe Fireworks CS6. It’s very similar to Photoshop, as in the two can basically do the same stuff. Photoshop technically can do more, but I’m so used to using Fireworks that the slight extra features isn’t enough to justify switching.
 
Also, Fireworks supports all Photoshop plugins so you can tweak it quite a bit.

Neat! What program is this though? It looks like Photoshop to me, but then again, all I’ve worked with so far is Sketchbook. (Which I will continue to work with because of the Quick Zoom feature that literally no other program seems to have, what the hell?)
