The “plot devices” in this episode seemed to be solely for the purpose of comedy, so I’d say they generally fall under the rule of funny. Kinda like the plot devices in Wander Over Yonder.
 
But yeah, MLP has its share of plot devices that aren’t used just for laughs.

You know, this is rather ironic, considering that Quibble’s lecture about every flaw of every adventure story involving convenient plot devices in Daring Do is EXACTLY what the writers of MLP had been using in their OWN stories, including this one!
