My only question is how can a pony have a dark neckbeard if they already have fur? That’s like growing hair on your fur. Either that or he lets his fur grow long in some areas and dyes it.

I think people dislike characters who remind them of traits they hate. Subconsciously.
But maybe you have a point. Maybe there is something good to be said about Zephyr Breeze. Like, uh… Oh! He never once hit on a foal! That’s pretty good. Aaaaaand…his name reminds me of both “Summer Breeze” and RHCP’s “Zephyr Song”. Nothin’ wrong with that.

well duh, it’s more than obvios dont you think? i want to like him i really do, but after seeing him as an displayed pony it’s kinda difficult y’know? however if i see that he’s at least trying to become better, then i’ll start liking him

Poor first impression, really. I think first impressions are very hard to change with some people. When one burns others’ energy and patience at first meeting it’s a little harder to trust that they won’t easily do it again. Assuming we’ll see Zephyr again, I think people will like him more if we’re shown he’s trying harder to be a better pony. If he learns nothing and is a big jerk again, people probably will still hate him.

Wow, so much hate for Zephyr Breeze. Sure he was kind of annoying to begin with, but he sort of redeemed himself in the end. I wonder if there is a deeper, subconscious reason for all the hate.
