Yes, and the fact that we have a mare who did not go to a school of magic, have a thousand year mentor who was both the ruler of the nation and personally know Starswirl the Bearded, who show to study magic nearly every day of her life since youth is more powerful then Twilight Sparkle is hard to believe.
More know magic to remove one’s cutiemark and special talent, a feat previously deemed impossible, and create a time travel spell that greatly exceeds the accomplishments of the father of unicorn magic is somehow not unbelievable.
Finally l despite all her actions and the trouble she caused, greater then Nightmare Moon, Discord, Queen Chrysalis, or King Sombra, she is easily forgiven without punishment and becomes brwat friends with the Mane Six and the student if Princess Twilight Sparkle while essentially becoming a new main characters.
Am I the only one seeing the problem? If this was an OC from someone’s fanfiction she would be decried as a Mary Sue, I have little doubt of this.
The Starlight part is right, but the Trixie part is also forgetting that she used a dangerous artifact and toke over a town followed by a tyrannical government.
A forced character who was shoehorned in at the last minute with minimal effort put into her backstory or motives does not a major character make.
I knew this would happen I said after the season 5 finale they would force her character down our throats and people said she would only show up for the season opener they were wrong half the episodes that have aired have been starlight episodes and none of them have developed her in a way that fixes any of her past issues her motives are still broken and her backstory is still weak we’ve had some good interactions with her and Trixie and that’s it. It doesn’t take a lot of episodes to develop a character if they would just focus on developing her in a way that confronts her previous issues then it would be fine but they haven’t done that they have just forced her into episodes and that’s about it with the exception of no second prances, they can spread her episodes out a bit as well instead of lowering the number of episodes she’s in we don’t need a starlight episode for every one or two other episodes that air.
I get the writers want to try something new to keep the series fresh but putting the main six to the side is not how to do it and if they wanted it to be more accepted by people then they shouldn’t have fumbled with her character so hard in the finale because it killed any potential she really had her story ended before it even began, she’s already friends with the main 6 as we saw in the finale and proven by season 6 and she did nothing that made up for her previous actions at all.
If they want to develop her then they need to fix her existing problems first dedicate an episode or two to that first then move forward from there just putting her in random episodes without addressing her problems first isn’t going to help anything for her character.
