The thing about therapists is that they usually know who you are more than you do. As long as you give them the right information, which most people do not. Which I understand, since I did the same thing.

I think it’s safe to say this image’s comment section is yet another lost cause.

You’re not going to feel better posting on the internet. Trust me. Maybe in the moment, but it will just worsen the problem. You are either going to get purely positive feedback without substance, or negative feedback. Both of which won’t help you.
 
Try a therapist. They will actually analyze you as a person, not what you spontaneously say, and will tell it how it is. As long as you find one you can open up to. A therapist is only as good as the information you give them.
 
It’s not for everyone, but it can help. I sure wish I found one that worked for me. Maybe you will have more luck.

Just means you can’t pretend to be someone or something else, or some character/persona you’ve made up.  
If you’re female IRL, fine, but don’t go calling yourself a “mare” cus you’re not a horse. Don’t talk as if it’s your character talking, talk as if the regular ol’ human you is talking.

I’m pretty sure as long as you don’t roleplay, it’s fine. Saying you are a pony is roleplaying. Period. Saying you are a buff male who will protect all the mares is roleplaying (a real-site example from a certain someone).
 
Saying you are female is not roleplaying. Saying you are male is not roleplaying. But getting into oddly specific scenarios, or changing your species, is roleplaying. Male or female, fine. It’s not like that really matters. You could even lie about your gender, not like we’d know. And finally, most of us just don’t care.
 
My take on it, which the mods may disagree with. And if they do, listen to them; not me. I’d listen to their words first and foremost, even more than the actual rules in some cases. hint hint, nudge nudge.
