I would argue that Hot and Sexy are levels of attractiveness. Beautiful is probably what you are thinking. Gorgeous as well or stunning. There are more terms then that but those are common enough. :D
 
Rather, different sorts of attractiveness. I tend to use Cute, Pretty, Beautiful, and Hot as the main subsets. The first three can be entirely platonic sentiments of admiration, whereas “hot” exclusively deals with sexual desire.
 
In this picture, Sunset carries all four kinds and then some.

In a way, her design almost feels more real than other characters. The whole show has sort of a soft, yet bright pastel theme going on, and Sunset’s colours are kind of a stark contrast from that. The only other character whose design has a sense of verisimilitude, especially in EqG, would be Applejack.
 
There’s also the fact that she was the first character to really have a continuous presence (at least due to EG stuff continuing) after having been reformed in the first movie (notice that the Sirens never make even a small cameo in Friendship Games following Rainbow Rocks; they’re just gone, sadly) and so we really get to see how far she has come along and that development helps make her more likable. It’s not until Starlight Glimmer after Season Five are we getting a similar character, and in the mainstream series too.
