On the earlier seasons the faces were less exaggerated when it comes to reactions, but still the fandom used what they had and turned them to memes and it was fun then too.
 
The show staff has obviously noticed that activity, and is now purposely plugging in outrageous facial reactions, while it’s true enough that most fans will take the offer… it feels forced, like they know that this certain reaction will be turned into a meme of some sort. (like doing an assignment from school) LOL
