You should look it up, horses are different. And it’s not because horses are “weird.” Human anatomy is the oddity, an arrangement of parts found only in some primates. Though this anatomy in this picture is mostly humanized; hence, no “anatomically correct” tag. So you are looking at a blue, mostly human vulva. What you’re seeing on top (belly up) is the blue clitoral hood, with the pink clitoris inside it, the tip (or glans clitoridis, often abbreviated to glans) sticking out. Extending below the clitoris are two thin, pink flaps, the labia minora (also called inner lips, or nymphae). Surrounding the labia minora are the puffy labia majora, or outer lips. If this were fully human anatomy (and she didn’t shave) they would be covered with pubic hair.
 
Now, imagine spreading the labia apart so you can see inside the labia minora. Below the clitoris you’d find a bare space called the vestibule, and at the bottom of that bare space you’d find the opening, or meatus, of the urethra, a hole about the diameter of a pencil when fully open. (Closed, it’s a small front-to-back slit.) Immediately below that is the much larger opening of the vagina. (In a young virgin who’s never had any insertion or trauma there, the vagina is covered by a membrane called the hymen. It breaks the first time she has sex, if it hasn’t already from tampons, rough masturbation, horseback riding (yes, seriously), or injury.) The back wall of the vagina sticks up a bit above the labia in some cases; this back wall is called the fourchette, but it’s a term that’s rarely used outside of anatomy textbooks. Now, horse anatomy is much simpler. They have a tube, the vulva. The mostly bare skin that makes up the outside of the vulva is the labia; horses only have the structure that’s equivalent to labia minora so there’s no distinction, they’re just labia. (Only apes have labia majora.) Unlike a human vulva, the horse vulva is just a tube. Go a couple inches inside the tube (again, she’s belly up) and the clitoris sticks out from the “ceiling” of the tube (the floor if she’s standing). She has a lot of muscles there (a human doesn’t) so she can lift the floor of the tube (floor when standing; ceiling in this image) a bit to make the clitoris poke out visibly and the tube open some. That’s winking. Go a couple inches deeper inside, and in a shallow groove behind the clitoris is the opening of the urethra. In a horse it’s proportionately larger than in a human, it’s possible for some veterinarians to get a fist in a typical mare’s urethra. (And no, the clitoris doesn’t move out of the way when the mare pisses. The pee stream just goes over and alongside the clitoris, like it was a river rock that’s not big enough to stick out above the surface of the river. When she’s done peeing, she’ll wink a few times to flick any residual urine out of her vulva.) Once you’re behind the urethra, there’s a faint ridge that’s equivalent to the human hymen. Whether or not it’s noticeable varies from mare to mare, so basically with a horse the “vagina” proper is just the part of the tube that’s behind the urethra; and the “vulva” is the part of the tube from the outside of the labia to the back-most part of the urethral meatus.
 
At the inside end of the vagina in a human or a horse is the cervix, and behind that is the uterus. Humans have a single uterus that only splits at the top; there are two fallopian tubes that bring eggs from the ovaries at their tips. Horses have a bicornuate, or two-horned, uterus; it’s crescent-shaped, with each entire side blending smoothly into a fallopian tube at the tip. The foal grows in the side of the uterus that the egg came from. (Cows have a more distinctly bicornuate uterus; the separation between the two horns is visible right inside the cervix. Many rodents take that even farther and have a bipartite uterus; there’s a left womb and a right womb, and each side connects to the end of the vagina via its own cervix.)
