Besides, up until a few hundred years ago pretty much ALL fiction was fanfiction. It was only with the introduction of the printing press and subsequent expansion of copyright law that fully original fiction became something people expected and demanded.

Being fanfiction isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Yes 90% of it is crap, but to paraphrase Theodore Sturgeon “90% of everything is crap.” Personally, I thought Fallout Equestria was better written and more engaging than most published novels I’ve read. If you disagree, that’s fine.
And yes, I realize I just fed a parasprite, but I can’t help it. They’re just so cute.

Actually PH has been done for months it was not very good.
At least Kkat’s FO:E is better than the pile of crap Chatoyance calls a Conversion Bureau fic.
Or he has read it and didn’t enjoy it… that’s also a possibility.
That makes me imagine Twilight writing partially true legends about her adventures. But cooler than how it really happened, of course.
