Obviously the gravity is lower because their world is an abandoned satellite amusement park from the 25th century where the smart animatronics took over from the humans. All that weather finessing and sunlet/moonlet orbit tweaking is just the way the world works, and somepony or someAhuizotl has to organize things.
 
Magic? Schmagic. Just regular psychically controlled smart matter with awesome SFX for the kiddies. Indistinguishable, literally. After the fall into chaos, everypony just forgot. And why not? Their world made complete sense.
 
However somewhere under the mountain sleeps the of the high silver spaceships. And one learned zebra, the last in her line of scholars, is using her sect’s cryptic lore and new genetic analyses of ancient oral legend to uncover it. Somewhere near a place named Ponyville…
