Amen. I wouldn’t call Rarity my favorite. But, she’s definitely one of the most interesting female characters I’ve seen in a cartoon.
“I would stroll through the gala, and everyone would wonder, “Who is that mysterious mare?” They would never guess that I was just a simple pony from little old Ponyville. Why, I would cause such a sensation that I would be invited for an audience with Princess Celestia herself, and the princess would be so taken with the style and elegance that she would introduce me to him, her nephew: the most handsome, eligible unicorn stallion in Canterlot. Our eyes would meet, our hearts would melt. Our courtship would be magnificent. He would ask for my hoof in marriage, and of course I would say, “Yes!” We would have a royal wedding, befitting a princess, which is [giggles] what I would become upon marrying him, the stallion of my dreams.”
Note that not once does Rarity refer to Prince Blueblood by name. She refers to him by his position in society. Rarity expected to show up to the gala and be swept off her hooves by a Prince Charming into a fairy tale romance and be made a Princess with no effort on her part but her appearance.
In case you haven’t noticed, I’m saying this as a Rarity fan. Rarity’s internal struggle between her generosity and her selfishness is part of what makes her an interesting character and she has improved since season one. “The Best Night Ever” was a low point for Rarity. I won’t deny that Prince Blueblood was unnecessarily rude, but you have to figure that Rarity was not the first mare to try to woo him for his wealth and title.
I like to think that at the airship christening in “Sweet and Elite” where Rarity and Blueblood stood together they had something resembling reconciliation, and if not on exactly good terms, they can at least now stand to be in the same room together.
No, she just wanted to be given common courtesy and be treated decently.
I remember the payment thing too, Rarity expected Blueblood to pay and he expected Rarity to pay. He also didn’t like the Apples.
Yeah, I guess. I thought he was kinda douchey too. But, he wasn’t that bad. Towards the end of that episode, he sort of shown that.
Who was an okay guy for the most part. He was exactly what Rarity thought he was and she really did want him, she just wasn’t his type.
Kinda true. But, she actually wanted a decent guy. Blue Blood clearly wasn’t. She sorta learned her lesson…until that guy in Season 4…
Even if it wasn’t her intent, she came off as a golddigger.
BB behaved like a douche the whole night, topping it off by using Rarity as a shield from a flying cake. Rarity got pissed, told him off, and smeared cake on his suit.
Yeah, might want to rewatch it. They interacted directly a lot. Like when they went up to AJ’s stand and then had a mini spat about who would pay, same sort of spat when there was a puddle. It evolved into sort of a date, but the worst sort.

Nah, she liked him less and less as the night went on because he was a prissy jerk that didn’t care about her.
He was kind of prickish.
So he deserves to be hated forever.
I remember Rarity following around Blueblood, then Rarity suddenly hating him and almost attacking him.
I think you need to re-watch Best Night Ever.
