Let’s not use strong words like “destroyed” quite yet. After all, we haven’t even seen the episode. There could still be a logical explanation.

For me, It just raises some weird questions. With what information we have, there’s a clear difference between Immortal Alicorns like Celestia and Luna, and magically-created alicorns like Cadance and Twilight. I didn’t think it was a stretch to assume that perhaps Cady and Twi’s alicorn transformation wouldn’t be genetically transferable. But now that it clearly can be, it brings up the oddity of essentially having two subtly different species of alicorn.
Not saying it ruins anything, just that it deserves some explanation.

cadence and twilight were granted alicorn form by celestia, they are not immortal like luna and celestia, they have merely borrowed some of celestias magic to become temporary alicorns, probably with a lifetime the same as a regular pony, they should definitely not be having alicorn offspring
Honestly, while I may be kinda disappointed that Flurry Heart is an alicorn and not a pegasus, I’m more disappointed that since this is from the first episode of season six, we most likely won’t get to see Cadance while she’s visibly pregnant. :(

True. One could argue that the enchantment grows stronger every time it’s passed down from parent to child, which would explain the differences such as lifespan.
Either way, there’s some explaining that needs to be done.

Well no, we haven’t forgotten. But the idea there is that they’re from an entire race of alicorns that are clearly different from magically-created alicorns.
It’s possible that Celestia and Luna are descendants of a pony that became an alicorn, which would keep the lore consistent.

magically created unicorns aren’t proper unicorns, cadence should have had a unicorn foal. if its been 1000 years since luna was put on the moon, wouldnt celestia have made at least 5 or 6 alicorns since then, so why isn’t there at least 300 alicorns going around, Hasbro obviously doesn’t care about the lore
