I already had the concept for this one in my mind to begin with, but during me and Kraus’ last Skype call I mentioned I was making a fan pony and he had this to say:

Have you named him yet? You should name him “Shaded Pole” and see who gets the joke, and who thinks they got the joke.
It also made me want to redo this one as a stallion because, to be honest, I don’t draw enough stallions and they’re super cute too, hence the delay.

The first thing I saw was actually a oriental sort of look, at least from the thumbnail. Like the vents were whiskers and the mane was pulled back into a bun.
I think it could be the coloration with the “fan blades” as they sort of look like black hair pulled back into that one hair bun thing that they do.
Bah don’t worry about that. Truth is I was trying to make him look ethnic; the fanblade hair and the vents on the face reminded me of a Native American headdress and warpaint so I kind of gave him that colorization. All in all the effect was lost in the end, but I still liked the color scheme.

T depends. The motors in fans are typically only reversible by flipping the rotor around. There are four coil sp motors (which can be reversed via a switch); it just depends on if whoever or whatever made the fan pony thought to fit him with such a motor, if it has the power to generate lift, and whether or not he runs off a receptacle like the lamp and toaster.
Over all I am just glad they appear to have escaped that crazy parts shop
