TS:…I guess there could be, in a sense. Some animals have three or more kinds of cone photo receptors. I think some butterflies have five. I try not to think about it though. Imagining entirely new colors is kind of beyond our comprehension.
RD:So butterflies have five visiony colors? Whooah… I can’t even imagine that!!
TS:Exactly.
Tabun is the source, not the artist (which was what I changed). The picture also needs to reference the person who drew it or otherwise it is considered an art theft as translating a picture doesn’t make you its author.
The original image source is here and allows people to find more content from both the artist and the blog even without knowing Russian. It is also the place where the actual artist uploaded their material originally, instead of something a translator did after quickly editing the text (the efforts put into this are incomparable).
The funny thing is that no one even tagged the real artist yet, even despite me giving direct link to his Tumblr on which you can find his Deviantart. I might tag him later when I have more time to restore justice.
*Sigh* how tumblr is more legitimate than Tabun? I’m talking about general case, not this pic. Both are blogs, both can have reposts, both can have both pics and texts. I’m sorry, but leave it to artist to decide where to post his pics, source always will link to where artist posted. If you’re gonna go around derpibooru, deleting all source links to Tabun, you will get more than enough artists and admins pissed.
Both sites are kind of part of the same thing if you ask me. You can see it even by their URLs and staff: https://tabun.everypony.ru and https://everypony.ru
The only difference I see is that the first one is decentralized (allowing users to post stuff) while the latter is centrally governed.
In short, it is just a place for people to post or check content and news, and (as you’ve already said) can’t serve as a legitimate author source just as derpicdn doesn’t.
Er… Everypony.ru is a analogue of EqD, not Tabun. Tabun is something in between Reddit and Tumblr, you can easily have it as primary source, some artists post only there. Of course, there post not only artists, but also writers, translators, news writers, etc. In this case, this a translation post, so yea, not ‘original artist source, but ‘translation source’.
@Ping_chan
Isn’t it pony-headcanon, not RD-headcanon?
That’s just cruel. I’ve seen shipfics where Dash either loses her wings or sight and they are all depressing as hell =\
Something about herself that she wouldn’t want to admit to, like being colorblind.
“I’m fine! I can see just perfect!”
But I guess colorblindness is nothing like really being blind, you just process colors differently.
Now one guilty pleasure of a head canon is that Rainbow Dash does go blind.
She would continue doing crazy flying stunts and everything else like normal, until het vision slowly fades, and she can’t fly anymore like she used to.
Don’t worry Dashie! I’ll take care of you~! ;o;
That thing is like the pinnacle of evolution, isn’t it? Makes me think it is an alien creature of some sort :D
Not only does it have the best vision, but it had the time and resources to evolve a biological analogue to a firearm and color itself in fancy. I can’t think of anything else that can be improved in this beautiful creature, aside from it becoming intelligent and enslaving humanity of course :D
Also, it sucks to be a horse :P
It’s simulating a horse’s normal vision.
From Wikipedia:
Horses are not color blind, but have two-color, or dichromatic vision. This means they see two of the basic three wavelengths of visible light, compared to the three-color (trichromic vision) of most humans. In other words, horses naturally see the blue and green colors of the spectrum and the color variations based upon them, but cannot distinguish red. Research indicates their color vision is somewhat like red-green color blindness in humans, in which certain colors, especially red and related colors, appear more green.
Dichromatic vision is the result of the animal having two types of cones in their eyes…
So this would be how our ponies would see colors. Such ponies would not have words for, say, pink (-ie Pie) or red (Delicious). These are therefore presumably from an alternate Equestria.
OH GOD IT IS STARING INTO MY SOUL!
that’s a mantis shrimp. they have 26 different photoreceptors. Including ones for detecting polarized light.
they have the most highly developed eyesite in the entire animal kingdom!
