I think I get Twilight’s scheme here. She’s hoping Hope (hehe) still has the Crystal Heart around her neck in that satchel, and is trying to get it and herself as close as possible to the dias. She’s also making sure all the crystal ponies are there.
Then her friends (who aren’t really in Canterine) jump out right before the “execution”, break her out of the horn crystals like last issue, and she grabs the Heart and shoves it back onto it’s dias. The crystal ponies power it up, vaporizing Sombra and the Umbrum.
At least, that’s what I think her plan is. It could go very well be different or go wrong.
Remember in “A Canterlot Wedding Part 2” when she was glued to the floor and didn’t even try to do anything to escape or take down Chrysalis?
Here, she’s chained up AND has all her magic disabled. If she would do nothing to escape Chrysalis when her magic was still available, why should we expect her to do more when she doesn’t even have her magic this time?
Also, if her “confession” is a lie, isn’t that the opposite of cracking? She’s not giving them the truth, she’s still fighting them by lying. Which is all she can really do at this point, considering the chains, lack of magic, and injured leg (unless that’s already healed).
In the show, Cadance is less susceptible to cracking under pressure. Instead, she sees a day in the Crystal Empire as predictable and unexciting. She’s a glutton for the unexpected and also an individual who’d fight for what she cherishes, willing to deal in absolutes at any given point.
Comic-wise, nope. Husband in danger; rat out sister’s friends though probably a ruse. Husband turned to stone; got nothing else to contribute.
Do the Umbrum not know what a trick is? Do they not have those where they’re from? Because the only way they couldn’t at least suspect this is a trick is if they’d never heard of tricks. Or I guess there’s one other way, but since they haven’t been shown suffering very recent head trauma, I’m going to assume that’s not what happened.
You know I bet some of you guys are gonna think the whole “you should consider becoming a villain” to Twilight is ironic. And I’m sure everyone knows why!
Damn Twilight stays pretty cool and collected about all of this. Brother turned to stone right in front of her and she’s still able to scheme. Cadance on the other hand cracked in a minute.
Twilight: And when this revolution is over, what do you think it’s going to be like? Do you know? Have you thought about it? Have you given it any consideration? Because you’re very close to getting what you want. What’s it going to be like? Paint me a picture. Are you going to live in houses? Do you want ponies to go to work? Will there be holidays? Will there be music? Do you think ponies will be allowed to play violins? Who’s going to make the violins? Well? Oh, you don’t actually know do you? Because, like every other tantruming child in history, you don’t actually know what you want. So, let me ask you a question about this brave new world of yours. When you’ve killed all the bad guys, and when it’s all perfect and just and fair, when you have finally got it exactly the way you want it, what are you going to do with the people like you? The troublemakers. How are you going to protect your glorious revolution from the next one? Maybe you will win, but nobody wins for long. The wheel just keeps turning. So come on, break the cycle.
