It would have been cool to see her in the background more, gathering information on her enemies…
We’d have a bunch of “Slice of Life 2.0/3.0 (depending on if you see that Manehattan episode as the 2.0)” jokes
I’d be okay with Starlight Glimmer having some cameos/background gags. After showing up in Amending Fences, I kind of wish she had more cameos this season.
Their definition of “recurring” seems to be “make her like Derpy and put her in the background”
But then there’s Discord, consistently dropping by every now and then…
This fills me with hope, yet I remain sceptical.

I can’t really see her becoming a recurring villain. I find it unlikely that this novel would make such a bold claim if something big wasn’t planned for her.
I’m reminded of this from the Art of Equestria book:

Seeing as how this book was released last month, I have a feeling she’s sticking around for season 6.
So do I! So do I! The only way reformation is going to be acceptable to me is if there’s a high chance of some premium backstabbing going on.

Community service. Starlight is taken captive and forced to perform as the band leader on Twilight’s new coast-to-coast late-night talk show.
I’d love to see Starlight Glimmer become a recurring villain of some sort.
Honestly, something to me that Starlight’s gonna die. If she has the audacity to remove the cutie marks of others, but not herself; not expect her punishment; disapear; and return with what seems to be malicious intent… Twilight might be performing her own thousand year banishment.
Don´t get me wrong, I´d love to have more Starlight in future episodes. But does she really need reforming already? It´s only her second appearance!

I would hear people say the same about SU’s Peridot. Glimmer obviously doesn’t get to have as many episodes to atone, but I still don’t see it as a particularly shocking development. And throughout this season I’ve noticed that harmony as a concept still isn’t exactly obvious/easy to grasp for ponies so at least she fits the pattern.
Good intentions, sure. But switching to the good side just like that? I don’t see it happening. She’s too far gone.

I’m worried about this reformation. I’ve been thinking, and thinking hard, about what on earth Starlight’s purpose is on the good side. What is she supposed to do? She’s meant to be a villain, I just can’t believe they threw that away in favor for another probably rushed redemption story. I just can’t fathom it.
