you know, this mechanism was completely and totally unnecessary. literally every crystal pony stayed alive all those years. remember the whole thousand years banishment thing? why didn’t that happen to her? oh sorry that was in the show so maybe it’s not canon.

Well, Cadence has read the diary of Sombra. So she can not blame Hope if she still loves him despite what he did. And if she said that she acted like this because she thought that Umbrum were innocent, it is natural that wanted to deepen the thing.
