Almost forgot about that. I’ve seen birds ruffle their feathers to get water out of them when in a birdbath.

It is kind of a cop out, but I don’t really see another way to integrate it into lore, if you don’t want to go the “it’s a cartoon” route.
That sounds like a cop-out, but I probably shouldn’t be thinking about stuff like this. Things appearing and disappearing in this show (among others works of fiction) for no apparent reason is just something that happens.
Generic pony magic. Rarity can do it, like when she pulled all those gems in Rarity Takes Manehattan, and even Rainbow Dash has done it before.
A small pocket dimension. It’s a thing in some fantasy worlds. Either that, or she stored her books and supplies somewhere else and uses a small smell to grab them from a distance and bring them to her.
