I think it’s high time we had this discussion in the wake of websites like “The Daily Stormer” and “Hatreon” getting pulled from the web as well as various YouTubers being hit with the “Hidden State” system that cuts off their content from the rest of the website. Whether or not you agree with their world views, they had the right to voice them and have their opinions tested on the open market of ideas. Actively taking away their platforms, isolating them from the rest of the world, and in the case of James Damore, ousting them from their careers and all future prospects will only push them further to becoming radicals like Antifa.
 
But that’s just my take on things. What do you guys think?

The OP is super misinformed on really fundamental things and it’s causing me to bias against keeping this thread open, so I’m not going to act on it and another mod can decide. What’s wrong with using the other thread? Is this even politics? The OP sounds like it belongs in the Bhaalspawn thread.

  1. What fundamental things am I missing here? It’s been widely reported that those websites were removed for political reasons by the server providers such as Godaddy. It’s also been reported that Youtube has a system in place where if you’re associated with certain YouTubers via Google+, Youtube will hide your content from showing up on suggested and recommended videos as well as disable ratings and comments automatically.
     
  2. I’ll admit I didn’t look for another politics thread because I was under the assumption that the mods and admins were still on auto-lock mode after someone allegedly used it as an excuse to shitpost.

Just go start your own registrar and ISP. Both are possible. Handouts from entities that hold views that your content strongly opposes are going to be few and far between.

And yet Feminist Frequency and Black Lives Matter get to say THEIR opinions that society have collectively looked at and decided they aren’t the brightest ideas while having full protection from criticism because if you’re not with them, you’re against them which means you’re a bad person that doesn’t deserve to be heard.

Start your own services and ban those sorts of groups from using it. This street goes two ways.
 
Society has collectively decided that ideal set x isn’t the greatest and probably shouldn’t be supported. They haven’t decided that for group y. Group z has a lot of different people on varying sides of the fence and so some support it, some don’t. It’s a super simple thing but for some reason it doesn’t really get across to certain types of people very well.

… They got shown the door because people don’t want to be party to that sort of behaviour. There are groups that promote that behaviour and would welcome it. Go there. Real simple.
 
Debating with people is really hard when they throw out versions of events that can only possibly have come from a multi-hour long game of Telephone.

They DID have somewhere to go. And then it got taken away. There was no reason for them to be removed from the internet by what is supposed to be a non-partisan third-party server hosting as they were doing nothing illegal. Also setting up your own internet service is kind of sort of a major pain in the ass.

Also setting up your own internet service is kind of sort of a major pain in the ass.
 
The fact any claims are made that it’s a “non-partisan third-party” just show the absolute lack of understanding. It was on their infrastructure. They choose.
 
So what if it’s a pain? That’s too bad. Every other organisation that provides the service went through it. They should get on with it if they want things their way. You use other peoples’ services, you play by their rules only.

Society has collectively decided that ideal set x isn’t the greatest and probably shouldn’t be supported. They haven’t decided that for group y. Group z has a lot of different people on varying sides of the fence and so some support it, some don’t. It’s a super simple thing but for some reason, it doesn’t really get across to certain types of people very well.
 
So group X wants group Y and Z to stop trying to make them a minority and brand them as spawns of Satan and for their troubles, lose their ability to speak publically while group Y and Z continue to disrupt other people from talking, riot, assault, and murder with no loss of face. I mean for fuck sakes man. I don’t agree with the Alt-Right either, but they should still be able to speak their mind and if you don’t like it, there’s this little thing I learned some years ago that helps with this sort of thing. It’s called ignoring it.

Yes, I am biased. I’m biased with social liberalism because all I see from neo-liberalism and the gaggle of leftist activist groups is attempt after attempt after attempt to create an Orwellian society where THEY control what you think and what you say. Where you’re not allowed to think for yourself and anything that contradicts the collective world view ends with you being ostracized and “educated” until you’re singing their tune again.
